Sam, a young British sailor, pardon me, a privateer, under the guidance of Sir Francis Drake and in the name of Queen Elizabeth I, gets left behind in a bold new land during Drake’s circumnavigation of the globe.  Sam makes a home, his buried treasure left for the future.

Three hundred years later, the bold new land becomes California, complete with missions, land grants, and gold.  Sam’s great, great, maybe even more great, grandchildren find his treasure, build a home, and his descendants build a castle.
